On the March 1st, 2009 the consortium of six partners from 4 countries, leaded by Tallinn Technology Park Tehnopol, started the Central Baltic Interreg IV A project "Central Baltic "Soft Landing" Zone for Small and Medium Size Companies".

The main outcome of the project is a joint support model to prepare the local companies for expansion into other Central Baltic markets through combination of activities: conducting market research, consultation services (market positioning, partner search, etc.), organizing international brokerage events, joint trainings, seminars and exhibition exchange.

The other main objective of the project is to increase the chances of success and reduce the overall risks for companies. It will help companies face the difficulties that are common while entering foreign markets.

During the project realization the consortium expects to reach following results:

  • Jointly developed and piloted "soft landing" service package for foreign companies who want to expand their businesses into CB national markets (Estonia, Latvia, Sweden or Finland);
  • 128 small and medium size companies have gained new knowledge;
  • 135 companies have found new business partners or clients in another Central Baltic region country;
  • 24 companies have gained new knowledge about expanding their businesses into another market of the project region;
  • 40 creative industry companies have gained new contacts and knowledge through joint seminars and workshops concerning cross-border culture management;
  • 6 creative industry companies have had an opportunity to find new contacts and introduce their work to wider public;
  • Joint training program for incubator and technology/science park managers has been developed and piloted among 40 participants from 4 countries.

 SMEDGE project is financed by "European Regional Development Fund" - "INVESTING IN YOUR FUTURE".
